Led by Musical Director Alison Cravens, our LMS Concerts are the perfect opportunity for us to polish up on our vocal abilities all year round.
We rehearse and perform throughout the year in various venues – from tiny halls and community stages to Glasgow’s very own Royal Concert Hall!
Our aim is to provide first class musical entertainment whilst at the same time getting ourselves known to as many people as possible, resulting in increased audiences.
In true LMS fashion, our cast and crew took Kilmarnock by storm with our love letter to composers, Thank you for the music hosted once again by our beloved brothers and sisters at the New Laigh Kirk. Long may our families stand united!
A massive thanks to all involved, with special mention to our production team:
Director: Fraser Chapman
Musical Directors: Olivia Thomson & Matt Allison
Choreographer: Rachel Howat
Sound & Lighting: Ross McCrone
We were also excited to showcase a snippet from our upcoming production of RENT! at Troon Town Hall from September 26 – 28! If you haven’t got them yet, tickets are on sale here.
We were all saddened by the disbanding of Celebrate Kilmarnock in 2023 – the team had put so much of their passion, time, and talent into shining a spotlight on the town and Kilmarnock is a little less bright without them. We were always honoured to join their efforts with a free concert at the New Laigh Kirk, and the thought that we couldn’t give back this year was a daunting challenge to overcome.
We are delighted to announce that we will be returning to the stage once again with a brand new, rebranded and refreshed showcase of musical talent on Friday July 26th in partnership with The New Laigh Kirk team who have been instrumental in keeping the community spirit flowing!
Come along on Friday 26th July at the New Laigh Kirk to help LMS say ‘Thank You For The Music’ and celebrate some much loved musical theatre composers. From Sondheim and Fosse to The Proclaimers and Elton John, there is something for everyone! And what’s more – it’s absolutely free!
In spectacular fashion, LMS took to the stage for “A night at the Park” in February. Our talented cast and production team provided a medley of musical numbers – from ‘Tick Tick Boom’ to ‘Miss Saigon’, there was something for everyone and great fun was had by all involved.
Together we raised an incredible £2,322 for the society – Many thanks to our fantastic audience for your ongoing support!
We can’t wait to get started on RENT – keep your eyes peeled for more information!
The events we have taken part in are many and varied. During our 2022/23 season we performed alongside Ayrshire talent for Ayrshire Hospice’s “Light Up A Life” concert and travelled to Auchencloigh, Galston, Ochiltree and Kilmarnock entertaining Ayrshire LMS style.
December is always a busy month and this session was no exception. In past years, we were invited by East Ayrshire Council to take to the main stage and perform at the annual Christmas light switch on right in the middle of the town centre. We supported the local charity ‘Hansel’ at their Christmas by Candlelight event at Lochgreen House Hotel, Troon and also gave a performance at Princes Square in Glasgow to raise further funds for such a worthwhile charity. To top off our Christmas events, we thoroughly enjoyed performing with none other than Daniel O’Donnell at the SSE Hydro Arena in Glasgow.
Our past session has seen us perform for Galston Parish Church; St Columba’s Parish Church, Stewarton; St John’s Church, Kilmarnock; Kay Park Parish Church, Kilmarnock and Mauchline Parish Church.
We derive great satisfaction from seeing the enjoyment on the faces of our audiences and are thrilled to receive their heartfelt thanks for coming out to entertain them. This is truly what music is all about. It doesn’t hurt that we are always provided with the most delicious sandwiches, scones and cakes that you’ll ever taste!
