Testing… testing…and we’re back!

It’s been a few months since you heard from us last, and boy we’ve been busy! With lockdown postponing our two upcoming shows, and nothing immediately on the horizon on 2020, we took some time to focus on keeping ourselves busy and productive – be that working from home, picking up new hobbies in furlough or working on the front line, our LMS members have been doing it all.

Thank You to our Key Workers

As we mentioned above, many of our members – and extended members of our LMS family – are key workers who have been on the frontline since before lockdown began.

We are in awe at their bravery, skill and tenacity in the face of a crisis unlike many of us have ever seen before. From doctors and paramedics to teachers and nurses, every single one of you are a credit to LMS, your families and yourselves. To you, we give a true standing ovation.

BSL with LMS

Following the suggestion of member Katie Davey, two of our BSL experts Erin Grace and Lauren Strachan have been leading a weekly Zoom class, teaching a group of members how to sign ‘You Will Be Found’ – our virtual choir performance back in March.

We’re very lucky to have a wealth of talent across our membership, and owe a huge thanks to Erin and Lauren for sharing this amazing skill with us. With one song now under our belts, our students are well on their way to learning more and developing a truly worthwhile skill that we hope to add to our performances in the future, aiming to be as inclusive as possible for all our audience members.

You Will Be Found

On that note – did you see it?!

Back in March as lockdown was beginning, we would’ve been at the audition stage of our annual show. As all of us were feeling a little blue and missing our LMS Family, we took it upon ourselves to get the team together and do our best to record something truly special.

With the wonder of technology, we managed to create our very own virtual choir performing the emotional ‘You Will Be Found’ from the hit musical Dear Evan Hansen. A story of togetherness and staying strong in dark times, we felt that the message at its core was an important one to remember – You Are Not Alone.

If you’ve not seen it yet, where have you been?! Visit this link to watch it on YouTube now – although we warn you, you may need a tissue or two. Things get a little emotional!

Rescheduling Shows

Amidst all of this, our Committee and Office Bearers have been working tirelessly to do what we can do arrange our upcoming performances. We were heartbroken to have to postpone both Kinky Boots and Shrek, however understand that this was indeed our only option to ensure the safety of our members, Palace Theatre staff, and you – our audiences.

We’ve been chatting with set makers, costume designers, our Production Team and everyone in between to make sure that when we eventually take these two shows to the stage, they will be the best they can possibly be!

Something Exciting is Coming…

Have you seen our announcement about LMS Together?!

Since you can’t come to us, let us come to you! We’ll be sharing a series of mini-concerts across what would have been our show week from 29th September – 3rd October! Read all about it here!.
